US Forest Service Watershed Forestry Team Hosts Webinar On Riparian Forest Buffer Success And Innovation Begins Oct. 10

The US Forest Service’s Eastern Region State, Private, and Tribal Forestry
Watershed Forestry Team is hosting an October 10 webinar on Riparian Forest Buffer Successes and Innovations from Noon to 1:00 p.m.

The webinar is part of a new webinar series that began in the summer of 2024 for foresters and natural resource professionals.

This webinar will focus on riparian forest buffers, including the diversity of benefits they can provide and examples of how buffers have been used for watershed restoration.

Speakers include--

-- Katie Brownson (USDA Forest Service) will provide an overview of riparian forests and their benefits, including water quality, climate resilience, and flood mitigation.

-- Jeremy Geist (Trout Unlimited) will discuss examples of past and ongoing projects that utilize riparian restorations to improve stream and riparian forest ecosystems and connectivity in the Great Lakes Basin.

-- Craig Highfield (Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay) will discuss how the Alliance works with numerous partners and conservation programs to implement and maintain riparian forest buffers throughout the Chesapeake watershed.
